2023 S.T.E.A.M Summer Camp Themes

6/12-6/16/2023 Encanto
In this astonishing week, we will perform some magic acts like floating bowls, pouring water into a cup and pouring out snow within seconds, changing water colors in a bottle with a simple shake, and more. Afterward, we will break down how these things could be accomplished through science and technology methods.
6/19-6/23/2023 Turning Red
Morphing insects and their amazing powers.
Some insects can change and morph in the most amazing ways. We follow insects that start their lives underwater and later in life they will conquer the air. Insects with complete metamorphosis capabilities. We will also talk about animals that shed their shells to become stronger and bigger like the horseshoe crab. We will also pass around our specimen of the horseshoe crab for show and tell.

6/26-6/30/2023 Minecraft
Learning Code and Green Screen and editing software to create videos.
How are special effects done in movies and shows? How is the weather report done every morning with the map in the background of the meteorologist? It is a green screen with special effects and computer editing. Campers will make green-screen videos and edit them through software to give the finishing touches. This is how special effects are created.
7/10-7/14/2023 Pokémon
3D Designing and printing with a creative mindset. Kids Elite proudly presents; our new Pokémon creation in 3D.
In this amazing week, we will design and build a new 3D hybrid Pokémon character in 3D software design. We will customize the character with its new never before seen powers. A fun and creative design is what we are going for. Afterward, we will 3D print it in our three 3D printers, and marvel at our creation. Each camper will take one of their 3D printed designs homes. Campers will also create a Pokémon card of our new 3D design complete with its new power description and name.

7/17-7/21/2023 Jurassic Park
This week we will be exploring different dinosaurs and their regions. We will pass around our collection of fossils and learn about their place of origin, diets, eras, and how fossils are formed. We will also learn more about our velociraptor skeleton. At the end of the week, the student with the most points will get a fossil kit to take home.
7/24-7/28/2023 Next Gen
Robot programming with blocky and Arduino projects.
Campers will program our robots’ hands and heads to obey their voice commands through blocky. We will also take a deep look into robotics and its place in our human society. We learn about Sophia and her status as the world’s first robot citizen. We will look at robot designs and their primary functions. What type of robot would you build and why? Aside from a robot that can do your homework and clean your room.

7/31-8/4/2023
Good Night Opportunity (Oppy)
In this summer camp week, we will learn how humans explore other planets and asteroids for mining resources and exploration. We also learn how we keep equipment sterile to keep our earthly germs from spreading throughout our solar system. We take a deep look into IT networking to communicate with equipment remotely like Oppy. We will connect to WIFI and Bluetooth equipment throughout Kids Elite to operate it remotely from Lincoln Park and locally.
8/7-8/11/2023
Moana
This week students will be programming with blocky to help navigate Moana through rough seas to safety. We will also talk about the five gyres aka (Garbage Patches) we currently have in our oceans today. We will discuss their impact on our oceans and what we are doing today to resolve their negative impact. 50% to 85% of the oxygen in the atmosphere is produced by marine plants. We will discuss design and engineering methods that children around the world have come up with so far to clean our oceans and rivers. Students will also work as a team to come up with a new design of their own to build. We have 3D printers, a robotics workshop, Lego, and an engineering teacher available. We will do our best to help campers build their ideal designs and make them a reality.
